What are fillers?
Fillers are a crystal clear gel that is injected into the skin (or for some treatments just under) in small amounts to restore volume and structure. It is based on hyaluronic acid, similar to the body’s own hyaluronic acid. The hyaluronic acid is non-animal which means that no skin tests are needed and that there is a minimal risk of allergic or hypersensitive reactions

What happens in the doctor’s office before the treatment?
At the Institute of Cosmetic Surgery by Fustok, Dr. Abdel Fustok does all his own injectable procedures. Dr. Fustok’s patients benefit from a plastic surgeon’s expertise, training and decades of experience.

Before the injection procedure, Dr. Fustok will ask you questions about your medical history. Dr. Fusok will ask about your treatment goals and will discuss whether you are a good candidate for RHA® Collection. Dr. Fustok will review with you what to expect during and after treatment, including possible risks.

Dr. Fustok will also examine your skin in and around the treatment area, and will take photos. The treatment area will be cleaned and prepared and sterilized. The RHA® is injected into the treatment area using the thinnest possible needle to ensure patients remain comfortable throughout the procedure. This can be completed in as little as 15-30 minutes. Once Dr. Fustok has finished injecting the treatment area, he may gently massage your face to help smooth and distribute the gel evenly. Dr. Fusotk may also apply an ice pack to help decrease swelling and pain.

The number of injections and the amount of product necessary varies depending on your needs and aesthetic goals.

What happens after the treatment?
There is no downtime after the injection. It is typical after the procedure to have some bruising, swelling, pain, tenderness, redness, lumps and/or bumps at the injection site which will go away on their own within a few days. For the next 24 hours avoid exercising and exposure to sun, cold or heat (sauna, steam room). Exposure to any of these for the first 24 hours may increase short term redness, swelling, and/or itching at the injection site.

The RHA® Collection injectables are designed to be long-lasting with results lasting up to 15 months. Over time, the hyaluronic acid is naturally metabolized by the body. Dr. Fustok will follow up with 2 to 4 weeks after initial injection and a Touch-up can and may be performed 2 to 4 weeks after the initial injection. Some patients may require a touch-up treatment to achieve the desired aesthetic results.
